Nana Knows: Senior Programming Rooted in Wisdom, Connection, and Joy
Nana Knows partners with senior centers, community organizations, and other neighborhood friends to deliver engaging, culturally rich programming that honors the voices, experiences, and wisdom of older adults.
Our programs are designed to reduce isolation, spark meaningful connection, preserve cultural memory, and create joyful opportunities for learning and expression. Each experience is thoughtfully facilitated and adaptable for a wide range of abilities and group sizes.
Why Nana Knows?
Our programs are more than activities—they are experiences that affirm identity, celebrate legacy, and build meaningful community. We center dignity, curiosity, and joy while creating opportunities for seniors to be seen, heard, and valued.
-
In partnership with local small businesses, we host pop-up gatherings centered on conversation, creativity, and connection. Participants come together over shared hobbies such as reading, knitting, crochet, quilting, writing, chess, and more—creating space for laughter, storytelling, and community.
-
These catered gatherings combine good food with meaningful discovery. Led by historians and genealogists, participants explore family history, learn about healthy eating, and receive guidance on researching their roots. It’s a nourishing experience for both body and legacy.
-
Our signature storytelling experience brings history to life. Through curated historic photos of Central Ohio communities, participants engage in guided conversation led by a lecturer and trauma-informed facilitator. These circles spark storytelling, reflection, and collective memory preservation while honoring the emotions tied to lived experiences.
-
We train and support seniors to become storytellers and teachers. In this hybrid program, participants partner with a facilitator and technology ambassador to develop and lead 4–6 week courses, sharing their knowledge through multimedia formats. Their wisdom becomes part of a growing, living archive.
-
We offer short, accessible group travel experiences—both local and regional—that explore cultural history in engaging ways. Virtual trek experiences are also in development, allowing participants to “travel through history” from wherever they are.

“A picture is worth a thousand words.”
Sometimes words can’t quite capture a moment the way photography or visual art can. Check back to see what new, warm and wonderful images we’ve added to our gallery of nanas and friends. And make sure to attend a Nana Knows experience to see your face in our gallery of good times, too!
